Star Spangled Banner
by Francis Scott Key
Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,
What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming?
Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight,
O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air,
Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.
O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?
On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep,
Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes,
What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,
As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses?
Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,
In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream:
'T is the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!
And where is that band who so vauntingly swore
That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion
A home and a country should leave us no more?
Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution.
No refuge could save the hireling and slave
From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave:
And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.
O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand,
Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;
Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land
Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!
Then conquer we must, when our cause is just,
And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"
And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Family Tradition

Display of a Yellow Ribbon is a sign of loyalty to family, friends or loved ones away in the military, or to welcome them home

Did you ever wonder where the Yellow Ribbon Support Tradition came from? Many think it came from the
1973 Tony Orlando and Dawn all-time classic: “Tie a Yellow Ribbon Round the Ole Oak Tree.” ( Lets be real )

Actually it came from the Classic 1949 Movie with John Wayne " Round Her Neck She Wore A Yellow Ribbon "
directed by John Ford that stars John Wayne and Joanne Dru  in which the female lead Wore the Yellow Ribbon
to express her undying love for a cavalry officer.

So at FT. Campbell in Jan 1979, the Avionics Platoon came up with having the women wear the Yellow Ribbons
at first around their wrist, then attached to their cars

On November 4, 1979, Iranian revolutionaries seized the U.S. embassy in Tehran and held
Ambassador Bruce Laingen and the rest of the embassy staff hostage.

When the Iran hostage situation happen a lady up north tied the Yellow Ribbon around a tree,
and then people started tying the yellow ribbon around everything they could,
Someone came up with yellow ribbon pins and bumper stickers
By 1980 with the hostage situation, the Yellow-Ribbon Support was known world wide.
So to the Avionics Platoon of 1979 at Ft. Campbell, KY. . . Thank-you

This is a poem being sent from a Marine to his Dad.
For those who take the time to read it,
you'll see a letter from him to his Dad at the bottom. It makes you truly thankful for not only the Marines, but ALL of our troops.

We all came together,
Both young and old
To fight for our freedom,
To stand and be bold.

In the midst of all evil,
We stand our ground,
And we protect our country
From all terror around.

Peace and not war,
Is what some people say.
But I'll give my life,
So you can live the American way.

I give you the right
To talk of your peace.
To stand in your groups,
and protest in our streets.

But still I fight on,
I don't bitch, I don't whine.
I'm just one of the people
Who is doing your time.

I'm harder than nails,
Stronger than any machine.
I'm the immortal soldier,
I'm a U.S. MARINE!

So stand in my shoes,
And leave from your home.
Fight for the people who hate you,
With the protests they've shown.
Fight for the stranger,
Fight for the young.
So they all may have,
The greatest freedom you've won

Fight for the sick,
Fight for the poor
Fight for the cripple,
Who lives next door.

But when your time comes,
Do what I've done.
For if you stand up for freedom,
You'll stand when the fight's done

By: Corporal Aaron M. Gilbert, US Marine Corps

Hey Dad,
Do me a favor and label this "The Marine"
and send it to everybody on your email list. Even leave this letter in it. I want this rolling all over the US ; I want every home reading it. Every eye seeing it. And every heart to feel it.

So can you please send this for me? I would but my email time isn't that long and I don't have much time anyway.

You know what Dad? I wondered what it would be like to truly understand what JFK said in His inaugural speech. "When the time comes to lay down my life for my country, I do not cower from this responsibility. I welcome it."
Well, now I know.
And I do. Dad, I welcome the opportunity to do what I do. Even though I have left behind a beautiful wife, and I will miss the birth of our first born child, I would do it 70 times over to fight for the place that God has made for my home. I love you all and I miss you very much. I wish I could be there when Sandi has our baby, but tell her that I love her, and Lord willing, I will be coming home soon. Give Mom a great big hug from me and give one to yourself too.

Please let this marine (and all our military)
know we care by passing his poem onto your friends
even if you don't usually take time to forward it this time!

Someone pays for you and me.

God bless you!

Please Keep The Candle Going.....

I asked God for water, he gave me an ocean.
I asked God for a flower, he gave me a garden.
I asked God for a tree, he gave me a forest.
I asked God for a friend, he gave me YOU.

Please pass it along to someone you care for, too.

"A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle"

I am tired of this nation
worrying about whether we are offending some individual or his culture.

Since the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, we have experienced a surge in
patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the
attacks had barely settled when the "politically correct" crowd began
complaining about the possibility that our patriotism was offending
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone who is seeking a better life by coming to America. Our population
is almost entirely comprised of descendants of immigrants.

However, there are a few things that those who have recently come to our country,
and apparently some born here, need to understand. This idea of America being a multicultural community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national identity.

As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own language and our own lifestyle.  This culture has been developed over centuries of struggles, trials, and
victories by millions of men and women who have sought freedom.

We speak
ENGLISH, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society, learn the language! "In God We Trust" is our national motto. This is not some Christian, right-wing, political slogan. We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian principles, founded this nation, a fact which is abundantly documented. It is certainly appropriate to display it on the walls of our schools. If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home, because God is part of our culture.

If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and we really don't care how you did things where you came from. This is OUR COUNTRY, our land, and our lifestyle.

Our First Amendment gives every citizen the
right to express his opinion, and we will allow you every opportunity to do so. But once you're done complaining, whining, and griping about our flag, our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage you to take advantage of one other great American freedom: THE RIGHT TO LEAVE.

We welcome everyone to our country with open hands who wish to live the American life, however if you prefer the way things are where you used to live. . .  then you should live there.

If you have any ideas of how to better support our troops, please contact us at
yellow ribbon support, and please be sure to tell everyone about the Yellow Ribbon Support for all our loved ones

I want you to close your eyes and picture in your mind the soldier at Valley Forge, as he holds his musket in his bloody  hands.   He stands barefoot in the snow, starved from lack of food, wounded  from months of battle and
emotionally scarred from the eternity away from his  family surrounded by nothing but death and carnage of war.

He stands  tough, with fire in his eyes and victory on his  breath.  He looks at us now  in anger and disgust and tells us this...I gave you a birthright of freedom born in the
Constitution and now your children  graduate too illiterate to read it.

I fought in the snow barefoot to give you the freedom to vote and you stay at home because it rains.

I left  my family destitute to give you the  freedom of speech and you remain silent on critical issues, because it might be  bad for business.

I orphaned my children to give you a government to serve you and it has stolen democracy from the people.

It's the soldier  not the reporter who gives you the freedom of the press.

It's the soldier  not the poet who gives you the freedom of speech.

It's the soldier not  the campus organizer who allows you to demonstrate.

It's the soldier who  salutes the flag, serves the flag, whose coffin is draped with the flag that  allows the  protester to burn the flag!!!

When you receive this, please stop for a   moment and say a prayer for our U.S.  ground troops in Afghanistan, and the  ones facing deployment to Iraq at this very moment - AND all over this  world.

Of  all the gifts you could give a US  Soldier, Prayer is the
very best one...

The Picture above is what the  USS NEW YORK Looks like

USS New York

It was built with 24 tons of scrap steel from the World Trade Center .

It is the fifth in a new class of warship - designed for missions that include special operations against terrorists. It will carry a crew of 360 sailors and 700 combat-ready Marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters and assault craft..

Steel from the World Trade Center
was melted down in a foundry in Amite , LA to cast the ship's bow section. When it was poured into the molds on Sept. 9, 2003, 'those big rough steelworkers treated it with total reverence,' recalled Navy Capt.. Kevin Wensing, who was there. 'It was a spiritual moment for everybody there.'

Junior Chavers, foundry operations manager, said that when the trade center steel first arrived, he touched it with his hand and the 'hair on my neck stood up.' 'It had a big meaning to it for all of us,' he said. 'They knocked us down. They can't keep us down. We're going to be back.'

The ship's motto? 'Never Forget'
