Charleston has the beaches.. 

Folly Beach is a favorite among surfers and other laid-back individuals. 
For seclusion, then maybe a private beach like  Seabrook, or 
Wild Dunes is a good start, or Kiawah, for its breath taking sunset.
Isle of Palms and Sullivan's Island fall somewhere in between, and they both have public access areas.

Outdoor activities include going to the beach, kayaking, and playing golf. 
Charleston is also known for its shopping and dining.

Boating "One of the oldest port cities in the south, Charleston is a favorite boating destination. 
There are several regattas each year, including regional and international competitions. 
For the boaters who also like to fish-Charleston is only 60 miles from the Gulf Stream, 
so it hosts many fishing tournaments. Plus, Charleston boasts more than a dozen marinas!
